Embedded Hardware Engineer
Hands on Engineer, experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams on projects spanning from concept to production. Well practiced in the architecture, design, bring up, and development of embedded platform hardware. Comfortable both in front of clients and in the lab
Experience
NuVasive, Staff Engineer, Electronics
Nov. 2020 - Present
While here at NuVasive, I have been a principle contributor the development of embedded hardware for the Robotics Program. Beyond Architecture and detailed design of custom PCBAs for the program, I have been developing the embedded software architecture and design. I regularly participate in cadaveric wet labs to obtain valuable design inputs for the platform. Lastly, while developing, I am generating documentation and processes to ensure compliance to IEC 62304 for medical device software.

Nordson Asymtek, MTS Sr. Electrical Engineer
April 2018 - Nov. 2020
While at Nordson I was lead Electrical Engineer in the Customer solutions team at Nordson Asymtek, a world leader in precision automated fluid dispensing, conformal coating, and jetting technologies. In the customer solutions, I design customer specific hardware solutions that accompany our precision dispensing and conformal coating equipment. Each solutions is realized within a 4-6 week timefrome, from concept to implementation. In addition to my design work, I assist with day to day operation of the factory floor through electrical troubleshooting and answering questions pertaining to system architecture. Lastly, I am responsible for supporting customer with troubleshooting of their equipment, both locally and remotely.

SENSEMETRICS, SENIOR HARDWARE ENGINEER
September 2016 - March 2018
While at sensemetrics, I have completely redesigned the electrical architecture of the Thread, sensemetrics's hardware connectivity platform. A cloud connected device designed for harsh remote deployment. The Thread could operate for years in a remote environment while collecting critical data for applications such as slope stability in the case of a mining installation. I was in charge of architecture, schematic capture, and layout of the internal PCBAs. Redesign focus was reduce: overall footprint within the enclosure, power consumption and complexity of assembly. I was also developed and maintain the production test tools, primarily written in python and bash, for commissioning and diagnosing failures in the production line. Beyond working on the hardware, I was responsible for translating sensor datasheets into firmware and software requirements for the sensor integration team, on both the front end and back end.

Mindtribe, Electrical Engineer/Engineering Lead
June 2013 - September 2016
While at Mindtribe I worked on a wide variety of project. I developed hardware for one off prototypes as well as taken designs from concept to production. My last project, I operated as the engineering lead, developing a wireless handheld training device that would report IMU and capacitive sense data back to a host PC over USB or a BLE link. As the engineering lead, I was responsible for managing the design efforts of all three disciplines on the project(mechanical, electrical and firmware), as well as managing overall project schedule, budget and deliverables with the client. In addition to being the engineering lead, I was the sole electrical engineer on the project, responsible for the preliminary design, component selection, schematic capture as well as the layout, bring up and test of a multi-layer flex PCBA.
